Yogurt Container to Tie Caddy

If you happen to be traveling for business reasons, there are a number of expensive devices that will help keep clothes as nice as possible in a suitcase. But we say, why spend money when you can reuse something!

Yogurt container to tie caddy.

Just carefully roll up you neck ties or scarves and insert them into a yogurt container. Now they won’t get scrunched up in the bottom of your suitcase.

Place Mats to Hide-It Purse

No need to worry about losing your money or having it picked out of your pocket while you travel. We present the hide-it purse.

We had some old place mats that we have been having fun turning into all kinds of things. This time we decided to turn it into a safe way for you to carry money and credit cards while you travel. The decorative top slides down the strap to hide the purse underneath, making it difficult for things to fall out, but it slides up easy enough for you to grab some cash and buy those T-shirts for the kids.

Luggage Tag Redo

If you are traveling this summer, we at city made, have some travel repurposing ideas for you!

This first idea will help you identify your luggage. Luggage tag redo.

We took random objects (plastic lids, tin lids and a piece of plastic from a sheet set) and turned them into luggage tags. On the lids, we added holes and a ribbon with a snap. With the piece of plastic, we sewed it to the back of a scrap of canvas, added a closure from some old plastic seat protectors and inserted a card.

Just look around to find unique objects that you could write your contact info on and attach to a suitcase or piece of luggage. It will look great, but unfortunately it won’t guarantee your luggage will arrive when you do.

Old Robe to Pull/Chew Rope

We are winding up pet week with some fun for pets!

Grandpa’s old robe to dog pull/chew rope.

We had an old robe given to us by city made Grandpa Dave. We cut strips and then braided them. Then we secured the ends with some thin rope. Now, the dog can have a blast with pulling, chewing or fetching the rope.

Vase to Fish Bowl

Want a pet that is low maintenance? We recommend a fish and  in true city made style, you can reuse something to house your fish. Flower vase to fish dish.

We rarely have fresh flowers (hint city made husbands), but have plenty of spare vases. We filled one with rocks, water and plants and now we can house a small fish.

Keep in mind, this kind of fish house isn’t good for gold fish or larger fish. Try a smaller fish. Be sure to ask at your local pet store.

Old Tin to Pet Supply Container

Having a pet means you need a place to put pet “stuff”. We came up with this cute tin to store the pet treats.

We had an old tin given to us by friend of city made, Heidi, and some old contact paper that had a not-so-ugly design on it. We just wrapped the tin in the paper and made a fun label. Now Fido will salivate every time you reach for the tin.

Pajama Pant to Pet Hamster Sleeping Bag

Here is another post for those of you who love small furry friends.  Using a pair of very worn pajama pants, with holes in them, we made hamster sleeping bags and pillows.  Don’t worry, if you don’t have real hamsters in the house you can always use these pretend hamsters.

And yes, you did read this post correctly. We DID just make hamster sleeping bags and, no, we have not gone off the deep end…yet!
